Two Dragons in Cloud by Kanō Hōgai

"Two Dragons (in Cloud)" by Kanō Hōgai

This is a work depicting a father and son dragon playing happily in the sky. However, flying dragons are very powerful. Kanō Hōgai (1828-1888) ’s drawings are more three-dimensional and realistic than any of the traditional Suiboku-ga (ink painting) of dragons. Both the father and the child are shouting loudly as if they are fighting a battle.
