Sudden Shower over Shin-Ōhashi Bridge and Atake, by Utatagawa Hiroshige
This painting is one of the most popular in the series of “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo“. It is also known that Van Gogh copied the wrok and ‘Plum Estate in Kameido‘ as well. Atake is located in a hazy area northeast of the Shin-Ohashi Bridge. Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) depicted scenes of sudden showers, including people hurrying quickly in umbrellas and straw raincoats, and haze caused by heavy rain around Ataka on the opposite shore.
